We are very excited to offer you Earlybird Cardinal tm, the first of an incredible new group of Daylilies! Dr. Daryl Apps, Daylily breeder extraordinaire, had a dream - to combine multiple repeat bloom with extremely early bloom, all in sizable flowers with colors heretofore unavailable in an early bloomer. After years of work, his new series - the Earlybird tm Series of Daylilies - actually exceeds these goals! It has the earliness of the famous Stella de Oro, but it produces many more blooms than Stella, they are twice as big, and they are RED! The plants produce far more fans, too - an amazing 6 or more per year - which enables an incredible 4 sets of rebloom each season, in addition to the initial bloom period. For you, this means the blooms just keep coming from late spring through the entire summer! Zone 6 can have as many as 100 days of bloom, and growers in zone 5 have counted 85 days of bloom. The plants are quite vigorous, taller and bigger than other early rebloomers, though still compact enough to grow in a container or as a moderate-size edging.
